Your privacy and permission is important to us here at New Networks for Nature. This privacy statement sets out how New Networks for Nature complies with data protection legal requirements and processes any personal data we collect from you, or which you provide to us. This applies to the entire website.

This policy adheres to the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR (EU Directive) 2018. For the purposes of this policy New Networks for Nature is the data controller. You can access this privacy statement via our homepage or from the bottom of every page by clicking on the appropriate link.

New Networks for Nature is committed to respecting the privacy of all visitors to its website. We have structured our website so that, in general, you can visit New Networks for Nature on the web without identifying yourself or revealing any personal information. Once you choose to provide us with any information by which you can be identified, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

We will only store your personal information for so long as it is required for the purposes it was collected for. How long information will be stored depends on the nature of the information collected and what it is being used for. We will undertake a regular review of the personal information that we hold and will delete personal information no longer deemed appropriate to hold (whilst maintaining a record of any preference expressed by you not to be contacted).

For the purposes of this privacy policy you/user is defined as any third party that accesses the website and is not either (i) employed by New Networks for Nature and acting in the course of their employment or (ii) engaged as a consultant or otherwise providing services to New Networks for Nature and accessing the website in connection with the provision of such services.

New Networks for Nature can only continue to collaborate with like-minded partners and individuals, and establish events that enable people of all backgrounds to express themselves creatively about nature and place, with the active support of our volunteers, supporters, donors and partners. In order to achieve this we will maintain a record of our relationship with you and this might involve the collection of personal information about you. Where this occurs we very much wish to protect your rights and we set out below a brief description of them:

The right to confirmation as to whether or not we have your personal information and, if we do, the

  • right to obtain a copy of the personal information we hold (this is known as a ‘Subject Access Request’);

  • the right to have your personal information removed (though this will not apply where it is necessary for us to continue to use the data for a lawful reason);

  • the right to have inaccurate personal information corrected;

  • the right to object to your personal information being used for marketing or profiling

The Personal Information We Collect

In order to support our charitable objectives in the most effective manner and to ensure we communicate with you in the way you most prefer, we may collect and hold personal information about you in the following ways:

Your name, address, e-mail details and other relevant information when you express interest in New Networks for Nature and our events, sign up for our enewsletter, make a donation, purchase goods or service or make general enquiries.

Financial information to support the processing of payment information, such as credit/debit card or direct debit details; or whether donations are gift-aided, etc.

You may also provide us with information regarding your personal or professional interests, demographics and recent and past experiences with New Networks for Nature.

Personal information created through your engagement with New Networks for Nature:

Recording the results of your involvement in New Networks for Nature and our events and campaigns creates personal information.

Should you decide to respond positively to one of our fundraising appeals we will keep a record of when and how much you give, not least so that we can acknowledge your support in an appropriate way and take note of any particular interests that you might have.

Through research and analysis of the information generated in this way we may build a profile which helps us decide which of our communications are likely to be of particular interest to you going forward.

From time to time New Networks for Nature might undertake activities with partner organisations and this activity might lead to the transfer of personal data.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may share personal data with subcontractors or suppliers who provide us with services, such as fulfilling product purchases, sending out mailings, handling email delivery or managing event bookings.

Please remember, New Networks for Nature will never sell or lend your personal data to third parties, and will only ever share it with organisations with which we share survey information, where necessary and if its privacy and security are guaranteed, unless we have your permission.

We may disclose your personal information to any of our group companies (which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 736 of the UK Companies Act 1985) and also to third parties in the following circumstances:

  • If we are required to do so by law, and applicable regulation or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ourselves or others. This may include disclosing to other companies and organisations in connection with fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

Young People

New Networks for Nature wishes to support the unique energy, enthusiasm and philanthropic spirit that young people demonstrate as they engage with the natural world.

On occasion we might offer the opportunity for young people to engage in events or competitions as part of their involvement with New Networks for Nature. Similarly, young people might actively engage in interactive participation with New Networks for Nature in various social media settings.

If, in connection with any of these type of activities, New Networks for Nature publishes personal information about a person under the age of 18, we will limit that information to a picture, the first name, surname and age of that person.

In order to donate to New Networks or to purchase goods or services from us you need to be over 18 years of age.

Parental permission: If a person is under 18 years of age then we will need permission from a parent or guardian for them to engage with us, or to share a picture, photo or story with us.

What We Do With Your Information

When you use this site and have not advised us to the contrary, you are agreeing that we may use your personal information for the purposes set out in this statement.

This information enables New Networks for Nature to operate as effectively as possible in achieving our charitable objectives, in supporting you and all our partners, volunteers and supporters to help us to achieve this.

We use the personal information that we hold to support:

  • –  The effectiveness and rigor associated with the operation and results of our events and campaigns;

  • –  To enable us periodically to send e-mails about new developments or other information which we think you may find interesting using the e-mail address which you have provided. You may opt out of receiving these emails at any time;

  • –  From time to time, we may also use this information to contact you in connection with fundraising appeals and to generally further New Networks for Nature’s objectives. We may contact you by email, phone, fax or mail. You may opt out of receiving these communications at any time.

Access to Your Information

You have the right under the Data Protection Act to access the personal information which we hold about you by initiating a Subject Access Request. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to:

Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online; we have done this through the use of mainstream third party providers, notably Mailchimp (our mailing list) and Eventbrite (our ticketing provider).

New Networks for Nature uses Mailchimp to store personal data which has sel- certified to both the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield regimes, and lawfully transfers EU/EEA personal data to the U.S. pursuant to our Privacy Shield Certification. They also complete a SOC II Type 2 examination on an annual basis for the Trust Principal Criteria of Security, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Availability. The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, processed and/ or stroed by Eventbrite, who participate and comply with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework as set forth by the US Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of Personal Data from European Economic Area member countries. Any payment transactions made to New Networks for Nature will be encrypted using SSL technology.

Our operations are based in the UK and we store the bulk of our data within the European Union. Some organisations which provide services to us may transfer personal data outside of the EEA; we will only allow them to do this where we are assured that personal information is adequately protected, for example where they are signed up to the EU-US Privacy Shield framework .

Data Breach

In the unlikely event that our systems are breached, we will inform the ICO immediately and adhere to their guidelines.

Our website may contain links to enable you to visit other websites of interest easily. However, once you have used these links to leave our site you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement.
