Professor Karim Vahed: Entomologist Karim has a special interest in Orthoptera (crickets, bushcrickets and relatives) and is an authority on post-copulatory sexual selection and inter-sexual conflict in arthropods, including the offering of food gifts to prospective partners. He is an expert on the extraordinary scaly cricket, an unusual beach-dwelling species in Britain known from only three areas. Karim is based at the University of Derby.
