Dr Isla Hodgson: Isla studied human-wildlife conflict for her PhD, focusing on the seemingly intractable clash between raptor conservation and grouse moor management. Adapting conflict-resolution techniques deployed in war zones, Isla spends time with different interest groups in an effort to mediate between alternative types of land use. She is director of A Focus on Nature (AFON), a youth network that connects young people across the UK with an interest in nature and conservation.
