Julian Hector: Julian heads up the BBC Studios Natural History Unit and as he says “simply the best job in the BBC by far”! A department of over 350 staff, The Natural History Unit is the premier producer of natural history content in the world. Under his leadership the NHU has delivered huge global hits for BBC1 such as Planet Earth II, Blue Planet II, Dynasties and Seven Worlds One Planet, together with other highly innovative titles such as Earth From Space and Animals With Cameras and popular children’s content like Andy’s Adventures and Deadly.

Springwatch, Winterwatch and Autumnwatch are the defining British natural history brands on BBC2 and for the nation, thrilling audiences with live British natural history, conservation and science all in the same package. The Watches have broken audience records during the Coronavirus lockdown in 2020.

Julian also leads the NHU to success winning business with broadcasters and platforms from across the globe which include Discovery, Apple+, National Geographic, NBCuniversal, BBCA and PBS together with plans to build the digital and Childrens’ businesses within the NHU. Julian has spearheaded NHU LA, “the NHU in America” to give the unit a permanent base in the US.
