Euan Dunn joined the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in 1994 and is its Principal Policy Officer on marine issues. His role includes policy development and advocacy on the interactions between fisheries and marine birds. A key part of his work is promoting environmental integration in the EU Common Fisheries Policy, including the impact of climate change on marine food webs, and reducing the environmental impact of fisheries, with particular attention to the sandeel fishery and the bycatch of seabirds in fishing gears. A new focus of his work is helping to shape an ecosystem approach to UK fisheries policy after we leave the EU.
Euan also represents BirdLife International on the North Sea Advisory Council and chairs its Ecosystem Working Group. In 2007 he received an MBE in recognition for services to marine conservation, including his work on BirdLife International’s “Save the Albatross” campaign.
