Chester, Nicola

Nicola Chester has been writing about nature since winning the BBC Wildlife Magazine’s Nature Writing Award in 2003 – and campaigning for it, for much longer! Her writing is rooted in the countryside of the remnant rural working class; of estate cottage workers, and the relationship between people, communities, work and nature. Her work has appeared in many publications, several anthologies (Seasons, Red 67, Women on Nature), and she writes for the RSPB and is a Guardian Country Diarist. Her memoir, On Gallows Down: Place, Protest and Belonging, is out with Chelsea Green in October, 2021. Nicola lives, writes & works from a farm workers cottage in the North Wessex Downs and is also the local Secondary School Librarian. Twitter @nicolawriting. Website: nicolachester.wordpress.com
