Andy Bloomfield was born in 1967 in Holkham Park, son of the Shepherd. He has spent his life studying birds and natural history in the Holkham and Wells area. He has written two books; Birds of the Holkham Area in 1993 and North Norfolk’s Wildlife in 2008 as well as contributing to many ornithological journals and The Birds of Norfolk in 1999. He works as NNR Senior Warden at Holkham, where he began volunteering in 1990. Recently his interest in protecting Spoonbills led him to forming the UK Spoonbill Working Group, and he has lectured on the subject internationally.
