Andrew Beckerman is a Professor of Evolutionary Ecology at the University of Sheffield. He works with a team of amazing researchers to explore how multiple, simultaneous threats to species combine to impact on biodiversity and the structure of the ecological networks we rely on for freshwater, recreation and food. His work is highly regarded, at least in academic circles, and he’s been awarded the British Ecological Society’s Founders Prize and BES Prize in recognition of his science and his service to the community. He is passionate about open access to science and to data literacy. He is co-author of a best-selling (in academic circles) and perhaps one of the most enjoyable books on statistics, called Getting Started with R.
