John Baker has had a life-long interest in amphibians and reptiles. He first visited East Anglia to search for pool frogs, unsuccessfully, at Thompson Common in 1996. He became involved with the species reintroduction when the first frogs were translocated from Sweden in 2005. Since then he has monitored the established population. He developed head-starting to enable a second translocation to Thompson Common, the last known site of native English pool frogs. He is a member of the Working Group for this species’ reintroduction and currently manages Northern Pool Frog Recovery at the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust.
