Professor John Altringham: John has studied a rich array of animals, from bats and birds to tunas and tarantulas. Now based at the University of Leeds, he is author of dozens of scientific papers and three books on bats, and a noted expert on bat roosting behaviour. John has worked with many conservation organisations and contributed to numerous BBC natural-history programmes.
